This Church is one of the oldest Marian sanctuaries in Alsace, founded in 991 by the Bishop of Strasbourg.
It was also a center of pilgrimage for the Company of Ministrels, the Weavers and Vintners Guilds.
The Church boasts two remarkable stained glass windows: That in the central bay of the choir with the upper section depicting Christ's Passion under the coasts of arms of Austria, the Ferrettes and those of Burgundy, and that of the Virgin or Tree of Jesse (1466) without doubt the most beautiful in Alsace.
The choir houses a 15th century mural alter curtain used as a tabernacle. But the Saint-Sépulcre in yellow sandstone, one of the most beautiful in Alsace, is the jewel of the building.
